How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. 1

    Add HEIC photos

Drop .heic or .heif files. iPhones often leave the file type blank, so the extension is what matters.

  2. 2

    Set JPG quality

92 keeps a photo looking close to the original. Lower it to save space.

  3. 3

    Download

Save the JPG, or a ZIP if you converted several shots.

Good to know

iPhones save photos as HEIC to save space. Windows, some websites, and plenty of printers still ask for JPG. This page decodes the HEIC with a WebAssembly build of libheif running on your device, then writes a JPG.

The decoder is loaded only on this page, and only after you start a conversion. Live Photos and bursts use the primary image. Very unusual HEIC profiles can fail; the page names the file instead of uploading it somewhere else to retry.

Frequently asked questions

Do you upload my iPhone photos to convert them?

No. HEIC decoding uses WebAssembly in your browser. The photo is not sent to ToolSpruce.

Why use a special decoder for HEIC?

Most desktop browsers cannot draw HEIC onto a canvas by themselves. ToolSpruce ships a permissive-licensed WebAssembly build of libheif for this page only.

What about Live Photos or bursts?

The primary still image is converted. Extra frames inside the same HEIC are not exported separately.

Will GPS data from the iPhone stay in the JPG?

No. The JPG is a new picture made from pixels. Location and camera tags are not copied, which is usually what you want before sharing.
